Toy Story 3: Illustrations

These illustrations were created early on for Toy Story 3: The Video Game. They were to be a set of stickers along the back wall of a 3D in-game toy store. Chunk was to be the cashier and when Chunk pulled a lever, the shelves would flip from being a mild-mannered wild west general store to being a modern day toy store. The first set of colorful illustrations were from the toy store side of the shelves and the more western themed pots and pans were from the western town side of the shelves. I sought to incorporate characters from the the various PIXAR short films to make the whole project more fun for me as well as give the player as fun little PIXAR easter egg.

Much of the illustration you see here had to be produced within a 36 hour time frame, so the style was largely improvised and came about as a product of necessity from time constraints. Many of these techniques made their way into the final illustrations. Ultimately, as is often the case with  a large scale project, the entire toy store concept was shelved in lieu of a 2-dimensional menu with no cashier or 3D shelves to save memory and development time. However since this was early on in the project, this style came to shape much of the illustration for the final game.
