The frontend user experience for "Ultimate Band" for the Nintendo Wii, ended up being a learning experience for all game developers concerned. We were not only creating a game entirely for the Wii game console which left us tremendous creative freedom but we were also using a beta version of the ScaleForm Flash development tools.
This meant that we made up the rules as we went and developed first for a strong look and then figured out how to make it fit within memory parameters afterwards. Luckily the vector art style worked well on both accounts for this project and the entire frontend UI of this game was done with Flash and ScaleForm which led for some wild animation.
Much of the background that you see in these mockups is randomly created in the game and changes from screen to screen. As the sole artist on the project that knew Flash at the time, I worked on these scripts to create an experience that not only synced with the music but also kept the pace up with this rhythm game.
