Ultimate Band created a huge need for custom illustration since it was a new IP. The marketing campaign not only needed much illustration but the game required illustration as well. The vast majority of the illustration was created with little or no resource material. It was inspired by rock posters of the sixties and seventies. The final printed materials such as the Nintendo Power cover shown here. were produced by drawing over in-game assets that were never produced to 600 dpi print resolutions.
Thus a need came about to have a semi-illustrated, and semi-rendered style to these assets. In this manner the game characters could blend seamlessly with vector illustrations to form one rock-tastic advertisement. What follows after that are some logos and illustrations that I created to match the game's style. These illustrations were used throughout the user interface. The most prominent ones were for the Rock Dome and the game antagonist band who very conceitedly called themselves "The Greatness."
