WWE Smackdown vs. RAW 08

These mockups were produced for the game called "WWE Smackdown vs. RAW 2008" for the PS3 and Xbox 360. At the time that this game was being created by Rainbow Studios, THQ was using a firm in Japan to create the largest WWE games. As a publisher-owned studio, THQ challenged Rainbow Studios to take over the franchise. The game was cancelled about 2 years into production.

Many of these screens were built but some didn't get to the level of polish as these mockups. Many unique parts did work however. The background of most screens is composed of video from both TV shows. The 3D model of the sharp metal rings did move behind the UI and even masked off the video to create a user experience that rivaled the Maya-rendered TV show counterparts.

The complexity and scope of the interface for this wrestling title is roughly similar to that of a typical NFL football game, so the UI art and design team spent much of its time on creating wireframes and planning out the entire interface before making polished art.
